On 7–9 October, scholars from across the world will gather in Toruń, Poland, for The Making of the Humanities XII, the twelfth international conference on the history of the humanities.
This year’s theme could hardly be more fitting for the birthplace of Copernicus: The Structure of Humanistic Revolutions.
Do the humanities have revolutions? Are there equivalents of scientific paradigm shifts, or does change in the humanities happen in fundamentally different ways?
Over three days, we will explore transformations across a range of fields and periods: from early modern humanism to AI, from linguistics and archaeology to art history, from decolonisation and Indigenous knowledge to aDNA, digital infrastructures, museums, epistemic transfer, and the changing boundaries between the humanities and the sciences.
