Lian Zhixian interviewed me for the China Social Sciences Network and the journal Chinese Social Sciences Journal.

"Rens Bod himself removed Western natural science from its conventional core role in the book World of Patterns: A Global History of Knowledge and introduced the entire human history from various regions around the world as methods of knowledge production."

12 December 2023: Lecture at VUB Brussels: "What kind of knowledge is the pursuit of meaning?"

On 12 December at 16.15h, I will give a talk at the KIIP seminar entitled "What kind of knowledge is the pursuit of meaning?". In this talk I will present a longue durée exploration of meaning-making from a global perspective. I argue that a total of 185 distinct meaning-making practices can be discerned that can be grouped into 30 themes. I discuss a number of general patterns and principles that can be found in meaning-making practices across the world and will go into the question as to what kind of knowledge meaning-making actually is.
